May The Force Be With You, Princess.

As though taking George Michael away from us on Christmas Day weren’t enough, 2016 continues its reign of terror by snatching Princess Leia away from us just a couple of days later.
Carrie Fisher had suffered a heart attack sometime last week, but reports indicated she was already in stable condition. Now, just a few days later, she’s gone.
I had not realize how much her death would affect me, but here I am, grieving. She was one of pioneers who helped bring women to the forefront of action/adventure/sci-fi/fantasy films, spaces traditionally dominated by men. She was a source of inspiration not just for women but for men as well, especially a gay geek like myself.
So here I am, tears in my eyes as I write these words that I can barely put together as we lose another beloved icon that has influenced generations.
Princess Leia.
General Organa.
Carrie Fisher.
You will be missed.
May the Force be with you.
