Here’s to a long weekend of fun and chills!

It’s the start of a four-day weekend (for the Philippines, anyway), so here’s to the coming holiday full of remembering our dearly departed and, of course, some halloween fun!
I Heart Hartley

Ellen is probably the only lesbian who loves having shirtless hot men frequently appear on her show. And we are eternally grateful for this.
I’m glad she recently got one of my faves, Justin Hartley (Smallville‘s Green Arrow), to come and do this water thing. Because, well, wet Justin Hartley is a hundred times even better than regular Justin Hartley. Too bad his Aquaman show way back when didn’t get picked up.
Gorgeous at 75

Here is the latest publicity shot of Wonder Woman in next year’s Justice League.
Stunning, isn’t she? To think she’s 75 years old.
Forever Living

Today is not just the birthday of the fascinating legendary poet Arthur Rimbaud.
Today is also the birthday of another legend, this time from film: the one and only horror icon Bela Lugosi, whose portrayal of Count Dracula forever ingrained the master vampire into the global consciousness. Though there have been other iconic Draculas who succeeded Bela (Christopher Lee and Gary Oldman, in particular), it was Bela’s Dracula that first brought into our collective minds our idea of who and what the count could be and which informed and influenced almost all other later portrayals.
Golden Tights

Just when you thought Golden Girls merchandise couldn’t get any better, along come these fabulous tights. Blanche would be so pleased.
Now, if we can get them to also ship the guy along with the leggings, I would be pleased.
Ladies’ Choice

I’ve watched him practically grow up, from High School Musical to Hairspray to… well, to the bundle of freaking hotness that he is today.
Can you believe that he’s now only just one year short of thirty? It seems like yesterday that he was a young Wildcat singing his way through high school. Now, he’s no longer the cute, wholesome, almost-jailbait object of everyone’s (fantasy) affections but an actual ripped, abs-tastic, hunky demi-god that everyone lusts after admires.
Three’s A Company

Judging based on its hilarious trailer, I went into The Third Party expecting a funny but predictable film. This was produced by Star Cinema, after all – the master of formula films in the Philippines.
And while I expected good quality acting (particularly from its leading lady) and good quality production values, I have learned to lower my expectations when it comes to generic, rehashed storytelling from this film outfit. Unlike its competitor GMA, ABS-CBN is not known to think outside the box and rarely takes risks, especially when it comes to anything LGBT-themed – where their best efforts seem to be redoing the same old tired Vice Ganda thing.
To be fair, they did have In My Life, which was atypical of Star Cinema in theme, but if you strip away the gay angle, you will see that it still followed formulaic drama.
So it was a pleasant surprise that The Third Party turned out to be not just funny but also not as predictable as I would have thought. Now, it’s still definitely nowhere near as groundbreaking or thought-provoking as GMA TV hits My Husband’s Lover and Destiny Rose, and in many ways it still seems to have that fear of offending mainstream audiences that results in a bit of holding back, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction. Dress Your Saturday Up

Here’s a little throwback to when two of my favorite women in the world got together just to mess around and have some fun. When two influential and powerful ladies just let their hair down and do this, you know that despite the troubles, all will be right in this world.
Enjoy your Saturday, darlings. Make sure you get some of those velvety kisses along the way.
Welcome to the Jungle

Because I’m ready for another awesome year of DC TV.
The new seasons of Arrow and Flash premiered earlier this week, while Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow return next week. (Someone please bring Constantine back for Fridays!)
It really is a great time to be a DC fan.
Absolutely Golden

So it turns out that this year’s New York Comic Con, which begins today, will have something that I (and several other friends) would surely want to have: exclusive Golden Girls action figures.
For some reason, and whatever it is I’m thankful for it, Golden Girls merchandise have been gaining popularity in the past few years. From shirts to candles to bobble-heads, the classic sitcom seems to either be regaining a new fanbase more than twenty years after it ended or else its legion of fans (most of whom I assume would be in their late 30s and older) have been getting nostalgic.
