Queer
Japan, Japan

Leave it to the Japanese to have a viral high school dance group that captures the 80s so well. If the 80s were on steroids.
You just have to love Tomioka Dance Club, which apparently gain initial fame by placing second in a dance contest.
Kate Does Gal
by allancarreon on Dec.13, 2017, under Film & TV, Geeky, Queer
One of my favorite women doing a hilarious impression of one of my favorite women. Kate is just as much of a goddess as Gal. Also, that activity Gal apparently did during dinner with the SNL cast? I do that when I meet new people on my team. And oh man I wish I’d seen Gal when I was in the Maldives. And Kate, Kate, Kate, too.
Man alive, I’m ranting. I love these two ladies!
Change The Clap

It’s about time, as they say here, to change ridicule into applause.
Our brothers and sisters deserve nothing less than respect.
Simon Says
by allancarreon on Dec.01, 2017, under Film & TV, Literature, Queer
Looks like this is an LGBT film worth seeing next year.
It’s been a while since we’ve had a light and feel good LGBT movie. It’s a coming-of-age tale based on the young adult novel Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda.
End The Stigma
by allancarreon on Nov.29, 2017, under Queer, Society
Recently, the PDEA and media seriously mishandled a drug bust operation that crossed serious ethical lines when it comes to people living with HIV and how they are treated.
Below is the joint statement of UP Babaylan and its alumni organization, Babaylanes Inc., of which I am a part of, regarding this issue. It is unaccaptable to propagate stigma and homophobia in this manner, and the PDEA and the media outfits involved need to take accountability.
And the new Miss Universe is…
by allancarreon on Nov.28, 2017, under Film & TV, Queer
Congratulations, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa!
The last winner from South Africa was Margaret Gardiner back in 1978.
It seems, lately, that Miss Universe is really letting countries who haven’t won in decades win again (in the last four years: Colombia, Philippines, France, and South Africa). They’ve also come from different continents. Any guesses for next year?
Pink and Channing
by allancarreon on Nov.25, 2017, under Music & Theater, Queer, Society
Pink’s got another new song, and this time she’s bringing along none other than the Channing Tatum to dance with her.
And wow, she really knows how to be mind-blowing.

Crime and Passion
by allancarreon on Nov.19, 2017, under Film & TV, Queer
I was in college when the news of Gianni Versace’s murder made the headlines in 1997. It was particularly big news in the Philippines because the perpetrator, Andrew Cunanan, was of Filipino descent; heck, that surname alone is enough to make any Pinoy perk up at the news.
Ellen gives back.

As always, Ellen knows how to give the community the love and appreciation we deserve.
