There’s a reason why Wonder Woman is queen of superheroes.
Leia and Ellen

This 2015 clip made me laugh. It also made me tear up, especially when Carrie Fisher talked about how she imagined she would be when she’s 70.
A Day of Pure Awesome
by allancarreon on Jan.17, 2017, under Film & TV, Travel & Culture
So apparently, January 17th is shared by awesome people as their birthdays.
There’s Muhammad Ali, who would have been 75 today had he not passed away last year. He is the gold standard for boxers, no questions asked. Everybody else can just wish they were Ali or that they could have even 10% of his skill and talent. Moreover, he was an activist who fought for civil rights back in the day.
Then there’s Michelle Obama, who turns 53 just a few days before her husband ends his historic term in the White House. Despite some fringe idiotic racist detractors, she is one hell of a classy First Lady who will go down in history as one of the best women to have been a force for good – not simply because of her husband’s office but simply because of her own contributions to society.

Axel Goes To Bora (Again)
by allancarreon on Jan.15, 2017, under Travel & Culture
Although I personally feel that Boracay has become (and continues to further become) over-developed and needs some restraint (hey, government, please do something), it doesn’t mean that I already dislike it. I still love it, and it is definitely still one of the best beaches in the world, bar none.
It remains a top tourist destination not just because of its awesome fine white sand and the crystal blue waters. It’s also because it has become significantly more accessible and (comparatively) more affordable in the last decade or so, where once upon a time it was generally a place that only the upper and upper-middle class could go to.
She Is What She Is.

Sit down, all you younger divas and wannabes! Kneel before Dame Shirley Bassey, living legend and fabulous icon who turned eighty last January 8th, the same day as David Bowie’s birthday (and incidentally, Elvis Presley’s birthday, too).
If y’all can sing as powerfully as Dame Shirley does at eighty while maintaining a great sense of humor, then you can drop the mics. Until then, hold on tight and genuflect before the incomparable Bassey.
Blooming Orli
by allancarreon on Jan.13, 2017, under Film & TV, Queer
Orlando Bloom turns forty today, and he certainly doesn’t look it. The guy is just as near-immortal as his most famous alter ego, Legolas.
And yes, for the longest time, he was part of my Top Three hotties in the early 00s. In many ways, he still is (well, okay, Top Ten nowadays). How could you not fall for the guy when he looks like that? And he looks great whether blond or brunette (bruno?). He’s also a pretty versatile actor, and if the recent leaked pics of him are anything to go buy, he’s also pretty… gifted.
Orli will always bloom for me.
Happy birthday, Orli!
We Are The World’s Creepiest Swaps

Yeah, that’s not creepy at all. Still, hilarious and fun. And he’s cute.
But still creepy AF.
Suddenly, I miss my Calculus classes.

Has it really been a year since the legendary David Bowie – Ziggy Stardust himself – left us?
Clichéd as it may be, time does indeed fly by so fast. It was a year ago today that the iconic David Bowie passed away, just two days after his birthday.
It was a passing that left a mark upon the industry and upon the world, for David Bowie was not just any legend. He was a legend that inspired and influenced other legends, including Third Eye Blind and Madonna herself. That makes you one hell of a legend.
