Le Famille.

Le Famille.

Father’s Day is hopefully a time when the culture says, “This is our moment to look at who our men and boys are.”

– Michael Gurian

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there!

Meanwhile, here’s a 2012 tribute that I made for the fathers in my own life.

Today in 1815…

Yes, because Bonaparte would actually celebrate Waterloo.

Yes, because Bonaparte would actually celebrate Waterloo.

… was apparently the Battle of Waterloo, where the Brits and Prussians handed Napoleon his ass. This also led to an unfortunate new meaning for the name of the village near where it all happened.

It was apparently timely, then, that I coincidentally also wrote about ABBA yesterday.

In honor of this historical event, I present to you this special commemorative song that no one else but ABBA can really do justice to.

Yetta: Read me my horoscope.
Fran: Oh, OK. Ah, “Scorpio. Tomorrow, you will awaken…”
Yetta: [excitedly] Whoo-hoo!

– The Nanny, Season 5 Episode 9

Bubbe Yetta has passed away.

She will always be one of the best and most hilarious grandmas on TV other than the Golden Girls.

Have a good sleep, Yetta. You may no longer awaken tomorrow, but you deserve the well-earned rest.

Don’t smoke too much in heaven.

Let That Sink In.

Just as I wrote recently, certain sectors have begun (and continue) to ignore the inherent hate crime slash homophobic nature of last weekend’s horrific Orland massacre. These people have chosen instead to insist that this attack was purely terroristic, motivated by religious extremism, and that choosing to target an entire club full of queers was completely and totally random and not at all deliberate.

Hey, keep that homophobia checked in, why don’t you? And instead, let’s intensify your chosen hate du jour, which in this case would be Islamophobia and xenophobia.

… and not just mere statistics.

So many lives lost, and we will remember them all.

Our hearts go to the families, friends, and loved ones that they left behind.

And because of their inspiration and sacrifice:

We will not be silenced by fear.

Homophobia knows no color or creed.

Less than a week after I wrote about IDAHOT and the continued struggle of the LGBT community around the world against hatred and violence, Omar Mateen massacred fifty people and injured fifty-three others when he stormed the Pulse gay club in Orlando, Florida. It is now the worst mass shooting in the history of the United States and their deadliest terrorist attack since 9/11.

And make no mistake about it: this was a terrorist attack. Omar Mateen had pledged allegiance to ISIS during the attack itself.

IJ2 Aquaman Early Access on IJ Mobile

I have been waiting for the Injustice: Gods Among Us sequel for years, and I am friggin’ stoked because this is one of my favorite – if not my favorite – games of all time. I have spent hours upon hours upon hours across the last three years on both the console and mobile versions, and DC and NetherRealm do not disappoint.

Judging from the trailer released for the sequel, it looks like they will continue to not disappoint.
