End The Stigma

by on Nov.29, 2017, under Queer, Society

Recently, the PDEA and media seriously mishandled a drug bust operation that crossed serious ethical lines when it comes to people living with HIV and how they are treated.

Below is the joint statement of UP Babaylan and its alumni organization, Babaylanes Inc., of which I am a part of, regarding this issue. It is unaccaptable to propagate stigma and homophobia in this manner, and the PDEA and the media outfits involved need to take accountability.

You must be the fun, straight couple!

by on Oct.18, 2017, under Queer, Snark, Society

Here’s a little humorous – yet very on-point – lesson on homophobia, whether outright bigotry or else subtle microaggressions.

Just. Do. Not.

Shooting Your Homophobia Down

by on Sep.30, 2016, under Queer, Society

Just because I’m in the mood and am tired of having to debunk various moronic statements every time the topic comes up, let me shoot down the common arguments of anti-gay and anti-same sex marriage simpletons.

This way, I don’t have to repeat myself; I can just point them in this direction.

1. “It’s not natural.” The animal kingdom is full of species that have documented homosexual behavior. But obviously, we shouldn’t let science and facts get in the way of our preconceived prejudices.

Irresponsible and Dangerous Privilege

by on Aug.12, 2016, under Queer, Society

Out Tongan Olympic swimmer Amini Fonua rightfully gave The Daily Beast the #burn.

Their faux-journalist – a straight white privileged male named Nico Hines – wrote an article that was, as The Slate perfectly put it, “sleazy, dangerous, and wildly unethical.” In it, Hines wrote about going on Tinder and Grindr as he wandered through the Olympic Village in Rio; he zero’ed in on Grindr (because, you know, gays are more promiscuous), then proceeded to out several gay athletes he met through the dating app.

Oh, he didn’t name them directly. No, that would be wrong. He only proceeded to describe them in detail, including their statistics, their events, and their goddamn nationalities. Because, you know, Google doesn’t exist, and no one would ever figure out who these people are.

Bustin’ Makes Me Feel Good.

by on Jul.22, 2016, under Film & TV, Queer, Snark, Society

The new Ghostbusters movie has been the subject of much misogynistic controversy since the all-female cast was announced last year. I had wanted to write about the issue more in-depth, particularly around how these entitled privileged white males are pretending it’s simply about the legacy of the original when it’s really about how insecure they are with their penis size.

Misogynistic morons deserve this.

Let That Sink In.

by on Jun.16, 2016, under Queer, Society

Just as I wrote recently, certain sectors have begun (and continue) to ignore the inherent hate crime slash homophobic nature of last weekend’s horrific Orland massacre. These people have chosen instead to insist that this attack was purely terroristic, motivated by religious extremism, and that choosing to target an entire club full of queers was completely and totally random and not at all deliberate.

Hey, keep that homophobia checked in, why don’t you? And instead, let’s intensify your chosen hate du jour, which in this case would be Islamophobia and xenophobia.
